These 5 sites usually take the top spots on Google for any property related searches that a buyer may input, which is why it is important to have a presence on them. For example, here’s what the results look like for ‘3BHK in Whitefield’ :

Organic search topped by CommonFloor, 99Acres and MagicBricks

These property sites also post highly useful home-buying information such as news, buying guides, price trends, etc. As such, they enjoy not only a high volume of traffic, but also credibility with the buyers.

Other growing real estate portals include, PropertyBazaar, PropTiger and niche websites like Creindia (for commercial property listings), Nestoria (a real estate aggregator to connect agents with buyers; listing is free but they are charged on a pay-per-lead basis) and NRIHomes (only for NRIs).

Free Classified Sites

These sites allow buyers and sellers of products across multiple categories (real estate, electronics, home appliances, etc.) to post their requirements as ads for free.

Here are the top free classified sites in the country :-

real estate leads online - olx

As the free classifieds market is relatively young in India, not all such sites have monetized their business yet. OLX, for example, simply earns money by enabling Google ads on their page :

Packages :

OLX only supports free listings and does not have packages for top slots or similar advertising.

However, it is a part of Google’s advertising network, so you can display banner ads on its website through display campaigns on Google Adwords.

The above are the two largest players in the free classifieds market in India, with the third (Sulekha), being far behind at rank 203. Smaller sites include Locanto,, Clickindia, Craigslist, Vivasteet, Trovit and Mitula.

As these are free sources of leads, real estate professionals must definitely post on such sites and monitor them for matching customer ads.

Local Search Engines

These sites allow you to list your business (as opposed to products) and function as online directories. While you can list your business for free, they have premium packages to help you get higher visibility. These packages vary based on the industry, competition and city.

real estate leads online - justdial

JustDial is the largest local search engine in the country, with an India-wide website ranking of 83. It allows you to list your business for free, and also offers multiple advertising options such as :

  • Top slots in the search results
  • Top slots in the SMSs sent to people looking for businesses in your field
  • Details of leads who use JustDial to find businesses in your field
  • On-site banner ads

AskLaila, Grotal, Sulekha Yellow Pages, GetIt, StartLocal, etc. are a few of the smaller players in this segment.

Search Engine Advertising

Search engines offer multiple advertising options such as ads on their search results (above or next to the results), ads on the websites/apps in their partner network, etc. They come with tools to help you identify the keywords your prospects are searching for, and highly focused targeting options to help you maximize the impact of your ad.

real estate leads online - google ads

Google is the most visited site in the country and across the world. It offers various advertising options for businesses :-

Display Network : These ads are displayed on relevant websites, apps, etc. in Google’s partner network. You can also choose specific websites you want to target (of course, they should be a part of Google Adsense to be able to display the ad).

Search Engine Network :  These ads are displayed on top or to the side of Google’s search results for specific search queries (specified by the advertiser previously).

Search with Display Select : These ads are displayed both in the search results as well as in its display network. However, the display network chosen is more carefully targeted.

Video Ads : These are video ads that appear before or in the middle of a YouTube video and also display network videos, games and apps. If you run TV ads, you should definitely consider running these ads as they are run on a CPV model (that is, you don’t pay until the visitor views your ad). You would be charged only if the viewer views the ad for 30 seconds or the full duration of the ad, or if they engage with the ad (click on the CTA etc.).

Yahoo and Bing are other search engines that see significantly lesser traffic than Google, and are therefore cheaper to put search/display ads on.

These services operate upon a pay per click/view model (that is, you are charged only when your ad is clicked or viewed). This cost per click/view depends upon multiple factors such as industry, competition, etc.

Social Networks

real estate leads online - facebook, twitter

1. Advertise on Social Networks

Social networks like Facebook and Twitter possess important and personalized data about their large user databases. This enables them to deliver highly-targeted and inexpensive advertising solutions to businesses.

real estate leads online - FB ad
Example of a real estate ad on Facebook

Apart from the Big Two of the social networking world, real estate professionals dealing in high-end or luxury properties can also use LinkedIn to target people based on their job titles (for example, CXOs, directors, etc.)

2. Track Social Networks for Prospects

Home-buyers often post their requirements on Facebook groups and Twitter. Real estate professionals can smartly monitor such posts to generate relevant leads for free.

For example, a real estate broker in Bangalore can participate in the following Facebook groups :

real estate leads online - FB groups

Here, it is important to note that posting the same comment on every buyer post will invite suspicion. Instead, write natural responses tailored to the posters’ requirements. Aim to help, and avoid coming across as a spammer.

A platform largely neglected by those in the real estate business, Twitter can surprisingly throw up lots of ripe leads when you search for specific terms in its Advanced Search tab.

For example, if you’re a real estate broker in Bangalore, you can run searches such as : “looking” + “BHK” + Bangalore”, and get results such as:-

real estate leads online - twitter

Twitter allows you to save searches, so once you set all of them up, you will only need to refresh them regularly to identify new leads.

Owned Media for Long-run Lead Generation

Building an engaging presence for your brand can pay off and generate quality leads in the long-run. This can be done through :

1. Website and Social Media

You can use forms on your website to convert visitors into leads. Make sure the forms are short and act as a gateway to something that is of high value to the visitor – such as a free property guide, a discount, a free consultation, etc.

Alternatively, you can use a live-chat pop-up wherein a person is required to enter their email before participating. Once you capture the lead details, you can reach out to them via email and take the conversation further.

Generating leads through your website organically (that is, without paying for PPC ads on search engines) is a long-term strategy, because your site will get visits only if and once you have built a brand for yourself. Likewise, your social media channels will also start bringing you organic leads once your brand name is strong enough.

2. Blog

You can blog about property-related topics that people search about. You can find what terms prospective home-buyers are searching for the most, through Google’s free Keyword Planner.

Increase in blog traffic will not only drive more visits to your website and build your authority as an industry leader, but also, you can use your blog to capture leads through pop-ups, subscribes, offer widgets on side or top bars, etc.

While this might sound like a relatively inexpensive strategy, it will get results only in the long-run as building a stable stream of readership will take you time. So, it needs significant amount of dedicated effort.

3. Email

If you have databases, you can create compelling email campaigns and use them to filter the quality leads (based on click/open rates) from the junk ones.

A few offline channels you could try for added benefit..

Offline events

There are a number of property and real estate fairs that are conducted in many major cities. These events can either be occasional or an annual occurence. By either attending or setting up booths at these fairs, you would be able to directly interact with your prospects.

(Here’s a list of all the real estate events that are coming up in 2017! Don’t forget to mark your calendars)

Traditional advertising media

Even in this digital age, TV and Radio ads can’t be ignored. Run an advert for your services as it suits your budget. This is a great way to target those segment of prospects who haven’t made the digital transition yet.

6. Referrals:

Did you know that the most trusted form of marketing is word of mouth? Get your existing clientele to recommend you to their friends and relatives. Give them reason and incentive to do so and watch the leads come pouring in!

…and that’s a wrap : we hope this post will help you crack the lead generation code in 2017!

Keeping in accordance with the growth in mobile technology, our guest speaker enlightened us on the topic in our last webinar. Abhishek Mehta, from AdLift, talked about the importance of mobile search marketing, and how it has grown and evolved over the years.

Now that is someone I want to learn mobile SEO from, don’t you?

In the webinar, Abhishek also discussed:

A great landing page does not only look good, but also converts well. Firstly, it makes its purpose absolutely clear, and then encourages the viewer to take the desired action. Below are some brilliant landing page examples that fit the definition, and the reasons that make them work. (The list follows no particular order of merit).

Shopify is a complete eCommerce solution which enables you to showcase your goods and sell them efficiently.

landing page examples - shopify

Why is this landing page on my list?

  • Great use of the image – The image instantly gives you an idea of what the page is about – it seems like something that can help you set up your online store. A smiling person proudly displaying her online store certainly conveys the point, while grabbing the attention.
  • Clear headline – The headline is very clear. ‘Everything you need to sell online.’ To a person who isn’t really tech-savvy, the task of setting up a completely functional online store might seem overwhelming. There are several questions in their head, but then they land on this page. A headline that tells them that they’ll get “everything they need” in one place comforts them. This comfort, clubbed with the offer of 15 day free trial would encourage them to take an action.
  • Highlighting the important info – Sell online is bright orange, giving it a contrast and highlighting the most important piece of information.
  • Minimal form – Shorter forms = more form fills. Seems obvious enough. Shopify has, very intelligently broken down the signup process into steps, and uses just one field on the main landing page.
  • Trust – Shopify has lots of users worldwide, and they have showcased this number on the landing page just below the form. It alleviates the visitors’ fears some more, because now they have the confirmation that there are hundred thousand shop owners just like them using the platform. It acts as a conversion catalyst.

Udemy is a marketplace where you can learn or teach new skills. Currently it has over 45,000 courses from highly reputed instructors.

landing page examples - Udemy

Why is this landing page on my list?

  • Emotional trigger in headline – A simple but brilliant play on words “What course would your life take” makes an instant connection with the potential learner, strengthening their will to change the course of their life by learning something new. The equally strong sub-headline with another strong emotional trigger (urging students to control their own life) supports the headline brilliantly.
  • Search form – It’s a no nonsense form. They are just letting the learners find what they want to learn. Once they find the course, they can enroll – it’s as simple as that. Udemy does not ask for a signup straight away, for the simple reason that it doesn’t make sense.
  • Benefits – The benefits are laid out nicely just below the form. It clears all the doubts which a visitor may have in his mind. Trust, variety of options and ease of learning is illustrated beautifully with the icons.
  • Background image – A student looking down directs your attention to the form. Doesn’t it?

Basecamp is a web-based project management tool launched in 2004.  It has a 30-day free trial and it is free for teachers.

landing page examples - basecamp

This is one of my favorite landing pages of all time. They have changed their landing page recently, but I have retained the older version on my best landing pages list.

Why is this landing page on my list?

  • Trust-worthy headline – People trust what other people say about the brand more than what a brand says about itself. Basecamp stamps its authority with a very strong number (5,981) in a very small time-frame (one week) right on the headline.
  • Real person’s image – No stock image can match the credibility of a real person’s face. Basecamp uses a customer’s image with her testimonial, making the page look infinitely more genuine than it would otherwise have.
  • Encapsulated form – Encapsulation directs our attention to the form, making it look very important. The form looks unconventional, capturing our attention, but fits right in with the overall design of the page.
  • Intuitive colors – Red makes us pause to read no credit card required and green gives us a go ahead with a free trial. Brilliant use of colors.

LeadSquared is a marketing automation and CRM platform which helps businesses amplify their lead to deal conversions. It has over 12,000 users across the globe.

landing page examples - leadsquared

Sorry for the shameless plug. ? It does seem odd to have a landing page that I designed on my own list. But this one converted very well for us (over 60%) so I thought of keeping it in the list.

Why is this landing page on my list?

  • Powerful headline – Power words like Unlock and Secret makes a visitor curious and encourage action.
  • Minimal design – The minimal design and a plain white background gives a very good readability to the page. We tested the page with different background but the black and white variation worked the best.
  • Contrasting call to action – The purple call to action goes perfectly with the yellow book cover. The copy on the button is very clear.
  • Trust – A reader’s testimonial right below the call to action reinforces the call to action.

Ordork is a website run by Noah K who blogs about marketing, startups, self-exploration, and tacos.

landing page examples - okdork

Why is this landing page on my list?

  • Smile – Smile is a very powerful emotion and Noah knows it. He greets everyone with a big smile on his blog.
  • Curiosity – Who wouldn’t want to know 85% of his business hacks. Excellent use of curiosity. Why 85?
  • Trust and humor – Just below the form, you can see exactly why you should care. Started 2 multi-million dollar businesses, grew a 700,000 email list and likes tacos. ? He backs it up further with a testimonial below.
  • Color – The green color looks very soothing to the eyes, subtly indicating growth. The yellow call to action compliments it perfectly.

So, this was my list of best landing page examples I have seen on the web. I hope you have learnt something new about what makes a great landing page great. Please share it if you like it. It will inspire us to create more content like this.

(If you want me to review your landing page, give you tips on improving it, or write about it, if it’s already an awesome, high-converting page, please write to me at rajat.arora [at]

A landing page is a webpage on which your visitors should land (be redirected to) after clicking your offer, which is generally an ad. I say should land is because most of the times businesses are making the very costly mistake of not redirecting the visitors to the landing page.

But, why should we direct the ad traffic to a landing page?

I want to take a very simple example to illustrate this further. Imagine you have a fruit shop and want to sell lemons, watermelons and strawberries online.

What is a landing page and why should you use it - Example

You set up PPC ads on Google Adwords, craft beautiful, clickable ad copy for the purpose, and eventually people looking for fruits see your ads and start clicking on them.

For Example: Someone searches for “watermelons.” Your ad shows up

What is a landing page : Landing Page guide | Google search results

Now when this ad is clicked, which of the following pages should you show him?

What is a landing page : Landing page vs homepage

The landing page, of course. If I am looking for watermelons, then the first option would entice me more. It clearly shows what I am looking for.

That is why landing page beats homepage any day, at least when we are talking about ads, because there every click costs you money. A promotion or an ad should always be accompanied by a landing page. That brings us to the two most important questions about landing pages:

Why does a landing page convert more than a homepage?

1. It’s more relevant to the search query

It is highly relevant to the search query (watermelon, in this case). You can optimize your landing page completely for a specific keyword, but you cannot change the message on the entire website (homepage) for every promotion you run.

2. It’s more focused

A landing page is highly focused on conversion, as it is always accompanied by a single call-to-action. There are no other distractions (like navigation menu) on the page, and there is just one action to take which is conversion.

Read more on why a landing page converts more than a homepage on our blog.

Why should you use landing pages?

1. You get more leads

You get more leads with the same number of clicks. In marketing terms, that is called a conversion. Conversion happens when a visitor acts on your offer by filling up the form, subscribing to your newsletter, making a purchase or taking any other action you want them to take. The offer can be on your website, blog, an email or in this case, the landing page.

Conversion rate is the number of conversions divided by total number of visits. For example – if 100 people visit your landing page and 4 people fill it, it means it has a conversion rate of 4%.

2. You get more flexibility

Now imagine you want to sell blueberries too (seasonal offer). It’s much easier and cost effective to create a specific landing page, than remodeling the entire website for a new offer every single time.

So now that you know what a landing page is, let’s understand the secret to create high converting landing pages.

Go to Chapter 2
